Audacious Austerity Cakes

A cold and starry night, walking past the duck pond for Ruislips second Clandestine Cake Club meet we arrive at the…library…not very Clandestine I know but we had a thoroughly good evening.

With a total of 12 ladies and nine fantastic cakes we had a lot of choice. From the very austere war time rationing cakes made with no eggs or fat to a completely audacious four layered honey and pear cake. We swapped baking tips and chatted about life in general. Most of us managed to try four even five different types of cake and all got to take some home. Being in the library was another bonus as we were able to look at the baking books and even some were inspired to take a book home to bake some more cakes.

What a great gathering of like minded people. Plus we got to eat cake – I’m stuffed!

Would you like to join us for next months meet? Would you like to set up a Clandestine Cake Club in your area?

For now,

Catherine
